Deneen received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance
from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In 1983, she was
honored to represent her state as Miss North Carolina. She then performed with the
Department
of Defense Entertainment tour and traveled to the Mediterranean, Far East and
Alaska.
Back in the U.S., Deneen performed with the first national tour of the
musical Heartstrings. She has appeared in Atlanta’s
Theatre
of the Stars Productions of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,
South Pacific, Hello
Dolly, Music Man, and Will Rogers
Follies.
For seven years, Deneen worked with the Miss Georgia
Pageant as a performer and a choreographer. She later joined the Atlanta Hawks
Dance Team, became an Assistant Choreographer and then an emcee for Harry the
Hawk’s I Like Me Because I’m Drug Free and Fast Break for Reading
programs, which traveled to hundreds of elementary schools throughout the
Atlanta area. She later emceed WellsStar Health System’s Dr. Wellbee show.
For twelve years, she was an instructor and choreographer
for the Carol Walker Dance Academy and Alpharetta Dance Theatre. While at Carol
Walker Dance Academy, she was promoted to Co-Artistic Director of Dancers
Company One Performing Arts Company.
Many of Deneen’s
students have received some of the highest awards at
both regional and national competitions as well as being accepted into some of
the nation’s top university dance programs. Deneen is proud to be a certified member of Dance Masters of
America, Chapter #33.
